Sharing a Sense of Place: The New Tradition of Barn Quilting in St. Lawrence County, NYDirector: Emily Baker
Producer: Traditional Arts in Upstate New York Editor: Emiy Baker A documentary that followed a new art and heritage tourism trend in the United States starting at its impetus in St. Lawrence County, NY. While having began in Ohio, the trend of barn quilting (painting a quilt pattern onto a large flat surface) has expanded across the United States as a form of expression and method of heritage tourism. I began filming at barn quilt workshops, conducting interviews, and recording the process of barn quilting from planning and painting to presenting. This was a great piece about local art and heritage. |
